Bio
Being a part of Team Ireland 2008 was an unbelievable experience. I finished the "sprint" (800m swim, 40k bike, 5k run) in 2:10:11. It was a truly thrilling experience! What affected me most was participating with two Canadian dialysis patients, Kim Barrey and Lisa Hamp. I was utterly inspired by their participation in Team Ireland and their life stories that brought them to the race. I knew that working at Fresenius Medical Care was making a difference in the lives of renal patients but it never hit home until that fateful race weekend in Dallas. I realized that I can do more and give more as an individual and that it will make a difference. So I am back for 2009 to raise more money and spread the word about the Shad Ireland Foundation because I have personally seen the impact that it has on our dialysis patients in Canada.
Shad likes to ask the question "what inspires you?" My answer is simple. "doing well by doing good". Thank you to all of my supporters for helping me to make THIS difference.
